The Center for Professional Development was established in the College of Education and Human Development and reports directly to the Dean of the College. Four core principles guide the operation of the center: Credibility, Accountability, Flexibility, and Accessibility.

The Professional Development Center (PDC) has formed a number of partnerships with the Western Virginia Public Education Consortium (WVPEC), Virginia’s Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC) at Radford University, the Virginia Association of School Superintendents , the Virginia Association for Supervision of Curriculum Development and the Appalachian Educational Laboratory (now known as Edvantia).  These collaborative efforts have yielded numerous successful grant applications and programs in leadership and instruction.
